Turbidity
can be caused by suspended colloidal material (gelatinous or mucinous
substance), coliform contamination, and surface water treatment. Although
not health threatening in itself, turbidity interferes with disinfection
and is related to disinfection by-products (see summary of trihalomethanes
above). |
